Weekend Destinations Near New York: Holiday Escapes

We love New York but sometimes we need a little bit of time off from all the hustle, bustle, noise, and lights. Here are some excellent weekend destinations near New York where we occasionally spend our weekends.

Rocking Horse Ranch Resort, Highland, New York

The Rocking Horse Ranch is home to urban cowboys, but do you think you need to head west for a ranch vacation? The nearly 120 horses are part of a 500-hectare theme park for children, which offers everything from horse racing and horse riding to trotting, horse shows, and carriage rides to horse racing. Drive through the main entrance of the park on the east side of the road and see what you can expect: camels, zebras, and miniature donkeys.

Water sports are also offered on the lake, where in winter you can go horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating, and snowmobiling, as well as snowshoeing.

Kalahari Resorts Poconos, Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania

A new Kalahari Resorts facility in Texas will open at least through mid-November, which will be the largest but could be better suited to the expanding Wisconsin Dells brand, which is located in the so-called Kalahari Desert. The resort is epic in size, with nearly 1,000 rooms, including units that can accommodate up to 22 guests, and three meals, led by a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Its activities include unlimited horseback riding, skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and snowmobiling, as well as golf and skiing. With an air-conditioned dome, it is also America’s largest indoor and outdoor space and houses more than 1.5 million square feet of office space.

There are also plenty of splashing and splashing areas for your toddler, as well as an outdoor pool and spa. You can also immerse yourself in the world – water sports of the class such as kayaking, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling, while the temperature is kept at 84 degrees all year round.

Admittedly, indoor entertainment isn’t for everyone in the cool era, but there are plenty of seasonal outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, and snowmobiling, as well as an outdoor pool and spa. Note that the water park occupancy is limited to 50 percent and social seclusion is enforced throughout the park; chairs and deck chairs are often spread out and disinfected. If you’re not quite ready for this kind of experience, consider booking a visit to the resort by the end of 2021.
